Independent drilling performance review - IDPR
What is an IDPR and how can it benefit you?
An IDPR is an Independent Drilling Performance Review.
Post-drilling assessment through an IDPR is an important step in the Continuous Improvement process. Its purpose is to gain a clearer understanding of the challenges and issues encountered on prior wells to identify opportunities for improvement on future wells.
The IDPR is a third-party review and analysis of all planning and operations documents. It is conducted off-site and is therefore non-disruptive - leaving your operations team free to focus on current well activity.
The off-site review looks at every element of the drilling operations from rig move to rig release, giving a fresh perspective with an independent external viewpoint. The analysis may cover any aspect of project management, well engineering, planning, operational procedures and logistics as determined by the initial identification phase of the project
IDPR provides an opportunity for step change in well drilling performance with potential for significant reduction in drilling time and cost. The ROI is rapid and significant when findings contribute to revision of drilling strategy for upcoming wells.
Shrikant Tiwari, senior advisor to the IDPR process states “The beauty of the process is that it provides a fresh point of view that is not influenced by unavoidable internal bias. It is carried out by independent experts with global experience resulting in a detached and unrestricted view of all aspects of the well cycle”
